The First Team eventually managed to overcome a St Blazey team who certainly did not play like a team with only 1 point to show for their efforts so far this season. We started brightly and took the lead on 15 minutes when Tom Beddow’s goal bound shot was palmed to the feet of Isaac Reed who made no mistake from six yards. Dave Painter in the Blazey goal kept his side in the game up until half time with a series of fine saves, none better than when he somehow managed to push Marcus Fanson’s shot on to the post and to safety. The visitors certainly upped their effort in the second half andf had a fair share of the game and the worst happened when a set piece from a corner brought them an equaliser. We then had to thank Dom in goal when he came out on top of a one to one situation with the Blazey striker. It was anyone’s game now but it was Rangers who came out on top thanks to two late strikes from Marcus which sealed the points and another three points.
The Reserves were not at their best according to manager Dave Hawes and he thought a draw was a fair result. Our goals came from Ryan Clarke and the evergreen Jamie Cottrell.
