Rangers paid the price for sloppy defending as they gifted Axminster their two goals on Wednesday night. The first coming after only three minutes when a lack communication let the home side in for their opener. We feared the worse at this stage but we soon got a foothold in the game and went on to create several chances without seriously troubling their goalkeeper in fact it was The Tigers who went closest to scoring when Josh Wadham rattled the post just before the break.
The second half started much as the first with Axminster scoring following a mix up. This left Rangers with a mountain to climb but they continued to trouble the home team but just could not find the net. This was to change with the introduction of Aiden Horne who came on as substitue and quickly pulled a goal back with a close range header with 5 minutes left on the clock. Unfortunately we could not find that elusive equaliser.
Clive was more upbeat about the performance. “That was a massive improvement on Saturday’s performance and I thought that in the end we deserved a point.”
