The reserve team returned to winning ways with a comfortable 5 nil home victory in the cup to Axmouth.
After a couple of weeks of successfully disproving the Mile Davis theory that ‘there are no such things as mistakes’, a much more solid display led to a clean sheet and a deserved victory.
Both Liam and Clarkey returned to the team and looked dangerous from the off, before each hit a goal a piece in the first half. Axmouth were struggling to cope with the speed and movement being offered from Cullompton, including Jonny Rawlings who featuring in an unfamiliar role on the left wing. Ben Broome also made his home return to the club, threatening throughout.
Liam added his second after the break as a confident looking George first created an assist before a well taken finish from full back opened his account for the season.
Liam completed a hat trick with what looked like a clever finish but may have been an exhausted player in full collapse, as Cullompton coasted in for a comfortable win. Although Alex was rarely threatened a strong kicking performance into a midfield which was dominated by the Cullompton four, helped lay the basis for a solid performance.
Although stronger challenges will arise, it was an important victory after a disrupted couple of games and was a chance to set the foundations for a strong run.
