A brace of goals from Lloyd Beech and Danny Baily ensured that Rangers grabbed three points at Bovey Tracey with a 4-2 victory.
The visitors started with the team that finished the game at Welton Rovers and were quickly out of the blocks and after only ten minutes were two goals to the good thanks to converted striker Beechy. The game was only 5 minutes old when he latched onto a through ball and walked round the keeper for the opener and then a great cross from Jack Mills was met at the back post for Beechy to power a header home. Bovey then got a foothold in the game when Sean Finch was left in the clear and beat debutant keeper Tom Welch who had already made an oustanding save to deny the home team.
The second half started brightly for Rangers as Jordan Lovibond was hauled down in the box and the reliable Bailo smashed home the penalty. Once again the goal machine Sean Finch raced clear to make the score 3-2 but Rangers came back again when Jordan was once again upended again in the box and Bailo did the rest to give us a 4-2 victory.
As Clive said after the game “We needed that win because some of our lads were a bit low on confidence after the shaky start to the season and although we got beat 4-1 at Welton on Saturday I could see that we had enough ability in the squad to climb up this league.”
