Rangers were absolutely gutted to lose their First Round FA Vase game against AFC Portchester to a 94th minute winner. Everything looked set for extra time when Parish popped up at the back post to score with a header and to take his team into the 2nd Round.
The visitors started the game well and had the majoity of possesssion but it was Rangers who created the better chances. Ollie Aplin just cleared the bar with a close range effort and then an audacious chip from Ethan Phillips rebounded back into play off the inside of the post with the keeper beaten.
The second half was more of the same with Rob in the Rangers goal seldom called into action and then in the last ten minutes we had two great chances to take the lead but firstly Ash Donohue and then Barndon Parsons poked their close range efforts just wide.
Liam was naturally down after the game “Once again we have failed to take our chances especially very late on in the game and then to be caught by a sucker punch like that makes you feel really deflated but if we can maintain that level of form for the rest of the season I will be happy, we just need to start converting our chances.”
