Rangers reached the dizzy heights of fifth spot after a 2-0 victory over Callington at Edenvale Partk on Saturday. We were soon into our stride with new signing Jordan Charran making an immediate impression with his lightning pace and he was soon instrumental in seting up the first goal after just 14 minutes when he crossed for Rhys Parsons to score from close range. Five minutes later the same two player doubled the advanatge. This time Jordan’s shot was too hot for the impressive Sam Borthwick to hold and he could only parry into the path of Rhys who made no mistake. We could have easily stretched our lead before the break but went on to waste several guilt edged opportunities.
The visitors enjoyed more possession in the second period as Rangers were happy to defend and then catch Callington on the break using Jordan’s pace. Had it not been for the heroics of Borthwick between the posts the winning margin would have been far greater as he brought off several outstanding saves in one on one situations. So the final score was 2-0 and another three points in the bag and a move up to fifth spot. Heady heights for Cully!
Liam was pleased with the performance “On another day we would hace scored half a dozen but for the inspired performance of their keeper. Jordan brought a new dimension to our game with his pace and ability to hold up the ball and I thought was a constant threat and deserved to get on the score sheet. But the other pleasing thing about the performance was the clean sheet.
