Before this game Plymouth Argyle sat proudly at the top of the SWPL Premier Division with Rangers bottom but one so few people saw this upset coming. After we took the lead with a fine opportunist goal from Brad Kelly we quickly found ourselves 3-1 behind and on the rack. Just before half time Argyle rattled the inside of Nathan’s post which would have been 4-1 and probably game over but we were thrown a lifeline on the stroke of half time when an Argyle defender buried Greeno’s corner in the back of his own net. It was 2-3 and game on.
Argyle’s cause was not helped ten minutes into the second half when the visitor’s were reduced to ten men following a reckless challenge on Langers. Rangers were now in the ascendency as Argyle struggled to come to terms with bein a man short and we took gfull advantage as the lively Kelly was brought down in the box. He picked himself up to take the spot kick but his tame effort was saved by Childs in the Argyle goal but he was able to knock in the rebound and draw the teams level. Then shortly after another of Greeno’s excellent corners was met at the near post by Ash Donahue who found the bottom corner with a glancing header. Argyle through the kitchen sink at us for the last 15 minutes but the defence stood firm and secured a priceless three points.
