Manager Liam Raybould was pleased with the performance of his squad as they ran out comfortable winners by 4-1 in a keenly contested game against a good St Martin’s side. “Although it looks a comfortable score line the visitors made us work very hard and it took two late goals to put the game to bed. Having said that the impressive Mitch Hawkins having been brought down for the peanalty which Bailo despatched, could have grabbed himself a brace of goals in the first half after making surging runs into the box to get in a scoring position but both efforts went narrowly wide. It was good to see Ollie Aplin get a hat trick and although his first goal was fortunate when Jordan Harris’s superb volley came back off the crossbar and rebounded off him into the net, his second two were clinical finishes when he was left in the clear. We were able to use 16 players including Isaac Reed and Alex Greening who have both been injured and will all be in contention when I come to pick my squad for next Friday’s first league game against Witheridge but before that we have the small matter of a home friendly game against Tiverton on Monday night when all of the squad will have the chance to impress.”
