Rangers proved too strong against local rivals Elmore as they brushed them aside to move into the 2nd Round of the Walter Parson’s League Cup.
The home team made one change from the eleven which started at Holsworthy with Mike Humphrey’s returning in place of the injured Georeg Painter. Rangers were soon into their stride and created some good chances before on the half hour Conor Bryant swivelled in the box and drove an accurate shot across the Elmore keeper to give us a deserved lead.
The second half was much of the same and it was no surprise that we stretched our lead when Tom Hawkings was first to a Jack Lewis corner to double the lead. It was all Rangers now and then Josh Baxter came up with the best goal of the game when he volleyed home from 20 yards. Joe Chamberlain, on as a sub, rubbed salt into the Elmore wounds when he finished off a sweeping move with a tap in at the far post and Rangers were into the Second Round.
