Rangers went down 2-0 at Ivybridge on Wednesday night, both goals coming from set pieces. Firstly a corner on the half hour was headed home unchallenged by Phil Bromhead and then with 15 minutes to go the same player was on hand to side foot home after we failed to clear a free kick. I would like to think that we would have dealt with these situations better if skipper Lloyd Beech had been on the pitch but he sat out the game to rest a knee injury before Saturday’s FA Vase game. Marcus Fanson was also carrying a knock so he was also on the bench. Steve Orchard was also missing due to work commitments.
The players were told before this game not to worry about Saturday but as the Ivybridge manager Nick Marker said after the game “we were desperate to play tonight because, no matter what your manager says, sub consciously you are thinking about Saturday’s game.”
