Rangers first friendly of the season was played in stifling hot conditions at Edenvale Park on Saturday. The visitors looked much the sharper than Rangers in the first half and were soon 1-0 ahead. It was an improved home side after the half time half time drinks break and Jordan Lovibond who was looking really lively up front, had a couple of half chances along with Joe Chamberlain who was looking threatening down the left. So it remained 1-0 at the break.
The second half was an even affair with both sides making numerous changes which inevitably disjointed the game. It was Okehampton who came out on top though with the two second half strikes before Lloyd Beech pulled on back just before the final whistle.
This was a good workout for both sides and it certainly exposed a few weaknesses which need to be addressed by Liam and his management team but it is better that we act now rather than after the season has begun, after all that is what friebdlies are for.
Next up it is Cheddar at home next Saturday ko 3pm.
A special mention must be made for Alan Slark, our Covid 19 Officer who, with the help of our ladies, Chairman and committee, members ensured that we met all of the criteria laid down by the FA and government. Not many people will appreciate the amount of work which went into making the ground and clubhouse a safe environment.
