Erme Valley looked in good nick for the fourth meeting between these two clubs. We led 2-1 but tonight’s game was to end in stalemate.
Beechy made a surprise comeback and we had Simon on the bench after being on the piste for a week. Will Pinnick was also able to return but we were missing Ash Mitchell.
Rangers strated much the brighter and took the lead after only 15 minutes, Ash cut in from the left and although the keeper did well to keep out his first effort he could not prevent Ash hammering home the rebound. This appeared to be the signal to sit back and protect what we have got and this played into the opponents hands as they started to dominate proceedings and we were grateful to Adam in goal to thwart three one on ones. The equaliser came on 70 minutes when we failed to close down the right wing back who manufactured a great cross to the far post which was headed home from 5 yards. We had to introduce Simon as a holding mid fielder after Beds was forced to limp off after an awful tackle which in the ref’s eyes only merited a yellow. Unfortunately Tom suffered the same fate for reacting badly to the challenge.
We still had chance to steal the three points very late on but Bailo just dragged his shot wide.
