Rangers suffered their second defeat of the season thanks to a wonder goal from 16 year old Finn Roberts who struck a superb volley from 30 yards in the 90th minute to win the game for Brixham.
We had the lion’s share of play in the first half with Rob Holmes in the Rangers goal a virtual spectator, but despite all of our dominance we did not work their keeper enough and we were to go on to pay the price.
The second half was much of the same but with the home side pressing forward we were caught short of numbers at the back and following a cross from the right the visitors were given a simple tap in to take the lead. Rangers responded with more pressure although we were probably guilty of playing too many long balls although it was from one of these that we equalised through Ollie Aplin after their keeper failed to deal with the free kick under pressure. Surely there would only be one winner now with ten minutes remaining but Finn Roberts had other ideas!
Liam was naturally down in the dumps after the game “I still cannot get to grips with the fact that we have just lost that game having enjoyed so much possession. They have had two shots and won the game. Hat’s off though to the young lad who scored the winner, no keeper in the world would have saved that. He was isolated out on the left and with no other options available opted for the shot, and what a shot! “
