I don’t think many people thought that we would take all six points off of high flying Saltash United but the lads followed up Saturday’s impressive 1-0 win with a victory by the same score at The Kimberly Stadium on Wednesday night. It was another midfielder who grabbed the headlines with Langers getting the all important goal early in the second half.
A strong wind made life difficult for both teams and it was Rangers who had the advantage of the elements at their back in the first half. Rhys Parsons brought out a smart save from The Ashes keeper but goal chances were very few and far between. It was more of the same in the second period with defences on top but then on the hour Rangers made the all important break through. Danny Baily wove his magic down the left flank before delivering a pin point cross to the far post where Langers leapt like a salmon to head home, yes, Langers scored with a header! Adam in the Rangers goal was seldomed troubled although he was called into action late on, comfortably dealing with a close range effort from Richards. Rangers saw out the game with relative ease and went on to secure another valuable three points.
Liam was bouyant after the game “That was three great points for us. We were ready for a reaction from Saltash after we turned them over on Saturday and I told the lads to expect an onslaught straight from the kick off but it was us who started the better and we were able to keep the ball for long periods, denying them possession. I honestly thought we looked most likely to score, but from a header from Langers, that was a bonus, but it was no more than he deserved. It is a shame that we will now miss him for two games due to suspension.”
