What an exhilarating display by our lads. Who would have thought that in the 98th minute we would be leading second placed Tavistock by 3-2, but with only 10 seconds left on the referee’s watch and seven minutes of added time already played, the home side grabbed an equaliser. The game restarted and the final whistle was blown.
Both sides took a little time to get into their stride having played last night but Rangers were in control for the first twenty minutes but then the home side showed why they currently sit second in the table and assured of the runners up spot by getting a foothold in the game and Adam in goal was called upon to make two excellent save to keep The Lambs at bay. Just when it looked like a stalemate going into half time, greeno latched on to a through ball from Langers and calmly slotted home to give us a half time lead.
Rangers continued to pass the ball around and frustrate the home team and it was no surprise when they extended their lead when, following a superb delivery from Green, Tom Beddow thought he had scored but just to make sure Beechy forced the ball over the line to double our lead. Rangers had looked vulnerable at set pieces and on the hour Tavvy were thrown a life line when they scored from one of their well worked corners. Within minutes they were level when they were allowed to play on as our lads waited for the referee to blow for a clear hand ball. This was now a key period of the game with Rangers really on the back foot and facing wave after wave of attacks but they showed real character as they dug in and with Ansell and Beechy solid at the heart of the defence and with Adam showing a real maturity between the posts they steadied the ship. Then with twenty minutes remaining Greeno let fly with a piledriver form 25 yards which was too hot for the Tavvy keeper to deal with and we were in front again. The rest is history as they say. If you had offered us 3-3 before the game we would have snatched your hand off but to have two points taken away from you so late in the game is a hard pill to swallow.
It is wrong to single out individuals but a special mention for Brandon Parsons who had his best game since joining the club. Every player played their part and I have to say that to put in that sort of shift having played four games in six days must have taken a huge effort and they certainly did the club proud.
