“The lads were in top form throughout the 90 minutes and I have now challenged them to perform at that level on a regular basis. On Saturday everyone was on their game from the first whistle against a powerful outfit and no one could argue, including the army of St Austell fans, that the win was thoroughly deserved. I have had doubts over whether we could be really competitive against the top eight or so teams in the league because I think that they all have that extra bit of quality and in the past we have been found wanting aginst these teams. Saturday should be a great boost to the players as I can now say to them, if they do the basics properly and perform well as a unit we are more than a match for anyone.”
“Next up in the league it is Ivybridge away where I will come up against a couple of old mates, Paul Edwards and Nicky Marker. They are two lads with immense experience and although they have had a poor season by their standards they are both born winners and they are bound to make it very difficult for us.”
“Before that though we have a local derby against Exmouth Town in the St Luke’s Bowl which is another game that I am looking forward to. I may dip into the successful Reserve and Under 18 sides and I also have the three subs from Saturday who are desperate to start but I am sure whatever team I put out they will a competitive outfit.”
