Hedley looks back on Saturday’s result. “The game was evenly contested for the first 15 minutes but we then shot ourselves in the foot as our keeper and defender got in a mix up and gifted them a goal. That was a body blow to us and we were out of sorts for the next 15 minutes but we got ourselves back in the game thanks to Ollie Aplin. This lifted the team and just before half time Marcus Fanson pressurised one of their defenders who conceded the ball to ASh Donahue who raced clear and smashed a shot past their keeper from the edge of the box to put us 1-0 up. We were in control of the game and deserved to extend our lead on 75 minutes thanks to a Frazer Clark header from Robbie Bowkers corner. The lads put me through the wringer for the last couple of minutes when we gifted them another goal but we saw out a nervy last few minutes to gert the result I thought we deserved. Overall I was really pleased with the performance and the response that I have had from the squad of players is that they know that there is now keen competition for places which is getting them all to pull out that little bit extra and I think that recent results have shown that.”
