A last minute free kick from Alex Greening ensured Rangers a place in the First Round Proper of the Buildbase FA Vase. This gave us a 2-1 victory which was no more than we deserved. Greeno was probably the most relieved man on the pitch after he had squandered a guilt edged chance only minutes earlier but after he buried his 25 yard free kick into the bottom corner all was forgiven.
Rangers had by far the better of the first half but chances were few and far between but we deserved our half time lead after their keeper could only palm out Greeno’s volley and the defender’s attempted clearance struck Kells in the face as he follwoed up before finding it’s way into the back of the net.
Apart from a long range effort which grazed the top of Nathan’s bar Rangers seemed secure at the back but unfortunately with only five minutes left the visitors conjured up an equaliser from nowhere and it looke like a mid week trip to Bristol for a replay but Greeno had different ideas.
We now look forward to the draw on Monday.
