Rangers were weakened defensively with three front line defenders missing including our two influential full backs Josh Baxter and Jack Lewis. Josh Pearson and George Painter stepped up and were both more than adequate deputies on the night.
The firshalf at Lords Meadow was a drab affair which matched the miserable weather with the only talking point being when the referee failed to play an advantage which would have given Joe Wilkinson a free shot at goal from 10 yards. No one expected what the next 45 minutes would throw up.
The second period was only a minute old when Crediton broke the deadlock with the opening goal, this spurred Rangers into action and within ten minutes we were ahead thanks to quality styrikes from Conor Bryant and Joe Wilkinson. On the hour Rangers conceded an equaliser when the players stopped playing expecting a free kick to be given for a foul but the unsighted referee waived play on much to the disappointment of the visitors. Worse was to follow when really poor defending allowed Crediton to take a 3-2 lead and things looked bleak for us. But two goals in ten minutes swung the pendulum back into our favour when Joe Wilkinson was on the end of a Sam Jones free kick and then Conor broke down the right and his cool finish was too good for the Creddy keeper and the three points were sealed.
Clive had mixed emotions after the game “Obviously delighted with the three points considering that we were missing key players and I could not fault the attitude of the players. They really dug deep in the closing stages and I think we deserved the three points which now makes it 4 wins on the trot. Let’s try and make sure that our winning streak continues next week.”
