Cullompton faced a midweek trip to Axminster, to play a rearranged fixture.
With 5 senior players unavailable, the manager was able to give 3 sixteen year olds a chance to impress.
The game kicked off with Axminster straight away showing their physical strength, with several heavy but fair challenges. Something that would continue throughout the game.
After 7 minutes following some sloppy defending, Cullompton went a goal down, quickly followed by Axminster’s second; again from poor defending.
As time went on, Cullompton began to edge into the game, mounting attacks down both flanks. However, Aiden could have done better when his cross goal shot, trickled past the post. The half ended with Cullompton enjoying the majority of possession.
The second half saw Cully on the front foot, playing some good football but lacked the final pass into the danger area.
A rare attack from Axminster brought about their 3rd goal when a free kick on the edge of the Cullompton penalty area was turned in by a Cully defender.
A disappointing night for Cullompton who must now turn their attention to Saturday’s home game with Torrington, hoping to return to winning ways.
Final score Axminster 3 Cullompton 0.
