Rangers made the trip to South Devon on Saturday to face an in-form Bovey Tracey team who went into the game unbeaten so far this season .
Manager Steve Orchard made three changes from the midweek defeat to Crediton . With regular keeper Will Davis missing with an eye injury 16 year old Oli Lewis made his first start for the club in goal. Will Pinnick and Lewis Hill also coming into the starting line up in place of Harry Varnals and Makan Coulibaly .
Rangers made the worst possible start going behind after only 2 mins , a corner from the hosts headed in at the near post to give Bovey an early lead . Despite this early setback Rangers grew into the game playing some lovely football and on 21mins drew level . Lewis Hill who was causing the home defence all sorts of problems was brought down on the corner of the 18 yard box . Lewis stepped up to take the resulting free kick and his deflected shot beat the keeper to make it 1-1. 8 mins later we took the lead with some good work from Aiden Horne setting up Lewis for his second . Rangers were now dominant and increased their lead on 42 mins when Ben Scott won the ball back in midfield releasing Aiden who put Lewis through on goal to put us 3-1 up with a superb strike into the top corner from 18 yards . The second half started with the home side pushing forward in search of a goal, but the boys weathered the storm and went 4-1 ahead on 57 mins . Again, Lewis Hill outpacing the home defence to slot the ball under the advancing keeper. The game continued with Cully continuing to play some great football , seeing the game out comfortably .
Some excellent performances all round but a special mention to 16 year old Oli Lewis who put in a faultless display in goal .
Next up is Bishops Lydeard away on Wednesday night in the Walter C Parsons Cup .
