Rangers welcomed Teignmouth to Adopstar Park on Saturday in the SWPL League and with our visitors making a good start to their campaign and sitting a couple of places above us in the table this was always going to be a tough game for the lads.
Teignmouth started the game the stronger and took the lead after 10 minutes. Former Rangers man Ash Donahue pouncing on a defensive error to produce a fine left footed finish from 20 yards past Rangers keeper Luke Vernon.
Rangers continued to soak up the pressure from the away team but managed to get back on level terms after 25 mins when top scorer Joe Wilkinson whose initial shot was well saved produced a superb finish from which looked like an impossible angle to get the home team back on level terms. We then grew into the game and should have taken the lead just before half time but the Teignmouth keeper produced a fine save from Jack Bryants close range shot to keep the scores level going into the half time break.
The second half was a much more even affair with both teams looking for a second goal but not really creating any clear cut chances with Rangers going close with a Conor Bryant header which was superbly tipped over the bar by the away keeper and despite Teignmouth shading the second half possession wise our defence held firm and the game finished all square at 1-1.
Good luck to Teignmouth for the rest of the season. Next up we travel to South Devon on Saturday to take on Dartmouth in what promises to be another very tough fixture.
