Rangers made their first ever trip to Torridgside on Saturday and picked up all 3 points with what turned out to be a comfortable 3-0 victory .
With Jack Lewis and Reece Conroy suspended in came Luke Horne to make his first start for the club at left back with skipper Sam Bryant dropping into the centre back position. Sam Rawlings also came in for his debut following his move from Okehampton.
Rangers had the perfect start , taking the lead after 2 minutes when a Joe Wilkinson cross was turned into the net by a home defender . Rangers then continued to create good opportunities for the remainder of the half but could not add to their tally. Meanwhile at the other end Luke was rarely threatened in the Rangers goal. The second half continued with the away side becoming more dominant but guilty of wasting numerous good opportunities to get the second goal. This finally came 10 minutes from time when Sam Rawlings turned in Josh Baxters cross to make it 2-0. Then 2 minutes from time Joe Wilkinson raced onto a through ball to beat the keeper to make it 3-0 .
Clive commented “I was really pleased with the performance and result following a 4 week lay off. The only slight disappointment was that we didn’t make the most of our chances through a mix of a poor final pass and our decision making, however I know this is something we will improve on. A mention should also go to the Bryant brothers who were excellent at centre half, Luke Horne who impressed at left back and Sam Rawlings who got off the mark on his debut. Also for youngster Ben Scott who came off the bench to impress for the final 25 minutes. We now look forward to a huge challenge on Wednesday night when we take on high flying Torpoint in the Walter Parsons Cup at Edenvale Park with a 7.30pm kick off.”
