Rangers continued their impressive run of results with a 4-1 victory at Plymouth Marjon on their all weather pitch. We have to go back to 15th October to find our last League defeat when we went down to Crediton. A lot of water has flowed under the bridge since then but it appears that we have now acquired a squad of players who should fear no team in this League.
It took us some time to adapt to the conditions at Marjon and we could easily have been a couple of goals down in the first ten minutes and the home team were made to pay when on the quarter hour Greeno’s free kick was headed in at the far post by Sam Bryant This was soon followed by a second goal when Joe Chamberlain took advantage when an error by the Marjon keeper left Joe Chamberlain with an open goal and there was no way he was going to miss out on this guilt edged opportunity. The home team pulled a goal back just before half time which was no more than they deserved so a n anxious 45 minutes lay ahead for Rangers.
A stern talking to from the management team and the introduction of Dan Baily with a change of formation worked wonders for the visitors as we took complete control of the game and looked a different side and it was Dan Baily got a third goal for us, as he headed home Lewis Waldy’s cross at the far post. It was now all Rangers and when Langers was left in the clear a fourth goal seemed inevitable but the keeper blocked his effort but first to react was new signing Josh Wadham who calmy finished the job to give us a two goal cushion. Joe Chamberlain then lobbed the keeper but the ball came back off the crossbar so we had to settle for a 4-1 victory which seemed an unlikely result after the first half hour.
Liam was happy with the team’s reaction to the half time rollicking which he dished out “We wanted to blame the pitch and were happy to let things happen, I told the players to go out and attack the ball and not let it bounce, we also changed a few things which worked and I thought second half we were excellent.”
