Rangers fought back from 2-0 down at half time to salvage a point at Launceston on Tuesday night. Rangers went with the same strating line up as Saturday apart from up front where Brandon Parsons came in for Tom Beddow who was still recovering from his exertions at Callington on Saturday and Steve Orchard returned to the squad after serving his one match ban. We wre still without Beechy, Ash Donahue, Bailo, Jamie Down and Hilly.
The game could not have started any worse for us as we fell behind after only 15 seconds. A misplaced pass was seized upon in midfield and in a second the Clarets striker was clear and slotting home past Adam. There was only one team in it and Rangers were hanging on. Then Joel Letori was penalised for a foul in the box but Adam brought off a superb save diving way to his right. But the sense of relief did not last very long as 10 minutes before half time Adam was picking the ball out of the back after sloppy defensive work by the visitor’s defence. Amazingly we could have been on level terms going into the break as Jordan set up Lewis Wight but his effort from 8 yards cleared the cross bar, Lewis then returned the favour to Jordan but the keeper did well to keep out his goalbound shot.
Liam changed the formation of the team in the second half with Brandon Parsons playing a more central role just behind Jordan and this proved to be a master stroke as Brandon took the game to the home team and caused havoc amongst their defence with his dribbling skills.Ten minutes in he was upended in the box as he was about to shoot and Jordan smashed home the resulting penalty. Fifteen minutes later and Brandon was almost through again but this time the foul was committed just outside the box. Jordan stepped out and cooly slotted the free kick past the defensive wall and into the bottom corner. It was now all Cully but we just could not find a winner and the game ended in a 2-2 draw which was probably the right result. This really was a game of two halves.
I must pay tribute to the referee who did his bit in making this a very enjoyable game of football to watch.
