If only there was goal line technology in the SWPL we could then be certain whether Will Tinsley’s header actually crossed the line or did Tom Broome chest it away late in the second half at Poltair Park last night. The only person that mattered though was the eagle eyed Assistant who was adamant that the ball was over the line and despite frantic efforts late on Rangers did not do enough in the end to claw the goal back.
Rangers faced a strong AFC St Austell side without 7 of the squad that beat Helston 2-1. Misssing were Reed, Richards, Pinnick, Orchard and Brad Riggs, all due to work commitments and injuries robbed us of Beddow and Parsons. So in stepped Lee Riggs and Tom Broome, new signing Jordan Ford and Ian Patchett.
The first half was an even affair with chances few and far between although Adam was called into action to make a great save from a close range header. The second half was only seconds old when the home took the lead with a scruffy goal which Rangers will have been disappointed to concede in view of the way they had defended in the first period. Rangers were back on level terms within ten minutes when Danny Baily was adjudged to have been fouled in the box and he got up and calmly stroked the ball home for the equaliser. The rest is history as they say.
This was a trmemdous effort from the lads with several of them having to play out of position but they were a great credit to the Club.
Team: Seerdhouse- Evans, Greening, Beech, Ansell, Donahue, Langabeer, Ford, Patchett, Baily, Riggs(Broome 70mins), Marcus Fanson.
