We welcomed high flying Torpoint to Edenvale Park last night in the 3rd round of the Water Parsons Cup.
Two changes were made from Saturdays starting line up with Lloyd Beech and Josh Pearson coming into the team in place of the cup tied Sam Rawlings and unavailable Luke Horne.
Rangers made the worst possible start going 1-0 down in the first minute following a defensive mix up . We then grew into the game but again poor defending from a corner allowed the Torpoint striker to poke a loose ball into the net.
Right on half time Torpoint added a third goal and then to make matters worse keeper Luke Vernon picked up a nasty looking injury when clearing the ball from a back pass.
With Luke unable to continue Josh Pearson went between the sticks for the second half ,Jack Bryant moved to right wing back and Ben Scott came off the bench into midfield . The second half was a fairly even affair but the visitors still had time to add a 4th goal direct from a corner with 10 minutes to go to seal a thoroughly deserved victory .
Clive said after the game “I couldn’t fault the effort or commitment from the lads but in football sometimes you just have to admit the best team won on the day . We wish Torpoint the best of luck for the rest of the season”.
