Teignmouth were Saturday’s visitors with Cullompton welcoming former players, Issac Reed and Ash Donaghue.
Right from the kick off Cullompton were on the attack, forcing a corner after 45 seconds. Teignmouth recovered from early jitters, winning a succession of corners, which were well dealt with by Cullompton’s defence.
On 20 minutes Cullompton were awarded a penalty when Lewis Hill was brought down in the area, from which Lewis picked himself up to convert the spot kick.
The game now became more open, with both sides creating chances but it was Teignmouth who came closest to scoring when they headed against the Cullompton upright. As half time approached, a break by Aiden into the Teignmouth penalty area, saw him passing the ball back to Lewis Hill who rifled an unstoppable shot into the top corner. If the crowd now were anticipating the halftime whistle, up popped Aiden to score Cullompton’s third goal.
3-0 at half time.
The second half began where Cullompton left off. They were full of confidence and able to play their attacking game at will, with the front three giving the Teignmouth defence a torrid time.
The only surprise was that it was not until the 65th minute for Aiden to score his second goal and Cullompton’s fourth.
This seemed to knock the stuffing out of the visitors, and it wasn’t long before Aiden scored again, heading home the fifth goal, and securing his hat trick.
With the manager making several substitutions and the the team continuing to attack, the referee brought the game to an end.
A thoroughly entertaining game and deserved win.
Final score Cullompton 5 Teignmouth 0.
