Cullompton welcomed Sidmouth on Saturday for a mid table game – hoping to avenge a pre-season drubbing.
Matthew took charge today, as our manager was serving a stadium ban because of his accumulation of yellow cards. Sidmouth fielded a strong side, who are having a good run of results.
The first half saw a game of few chances. Sidmouth were guilty of not making the most of goalscoring opportunities. The second half began with Sidmouth starting to get on top, with their mid field taking control of the game. This is an area where we do struggle, especially when games enter the final periods.
An unfortunate injury to Connor Bryant meant a change to the Cully back four, with Richard Collard coming on. It wasn’t long before he was in the action, unfortunately diverting a cross from the left into his own net. This was no more than Sidmouth deserved, and with two more goals to follow they ran out worthy winners.
Let’s hope this defeat gives the side the motivation to bounce back in their next game, which is on this Wednesday night at home to Bridport with a 19:30 kick off.
