Rangers made the trip to Plymouth to take on Marjons in a SWPL fixture in which turned out to be the only game on in the East Division thanks to Marjons 4G pitch .
Rangers, looking to put last weeks poor performance against Bovey Tracey behind started the game with a number of changes from the previous week.
Former Rangers keeper Nathan Whatley replaced the unavailable Luke Vernon between the sticks . New signing from Elmore Lucas White came into the back four to make his debut. Ben Scott took the place of the suspended Harry Varnals in midfield and Joe Wilkinson and Jack Bryant both returned to the starting line after missing the last game through suspension.
Cully started the game well and were the better team in the first half without creating any real clear cut opportunities . The lads defended well and limited Marjons to very little but it took a moment of class to break the deadlock when Joe Wilkinson picked the ball up 25 yards from goal and unleashed a great strike which curled into the top corner to give us the lead at half time.
The second half was much of the same with Rangers on the front foot and after 65 minutes increased their lead when Conor Bryant latched onto a long goal kick to cooly lob the ball over the advancing keeper .
Marjons then gave themselves a lifeline on 75 mins when a free header from a corner got them back to 2-1 but Rangers put the game beyond doubt when Lloyd White went through on goal to beat the last defender and slot the ball past the away keeper for his first goal for the club to give us a good 3-1 victory on the road .
Manager Paul Pocock commented after the game “ We were looking for a reaction following last weeks dismal performance and that was exactly what we got . The work rate and effort the lads put in was a 100% improvement on the Bovey game and we thoroughly deserved the 3 points . We now look forward to Elmore away for our Xmas fixture on 27th December .”
Next up Elmore away on 27th December with a 11am kick off.
