After two weeks without a game, Cullompton returned to action on Tuesday evening, for the long awaited Walter C Parsons Cup quarter final.
From the kick off, Cullompton were on the attack and rewarded when great work down the left by Lloyd White, crossed for Lewis Hill to score.
Cullompton had their tails up now, the only surprise was it took until the 27 minute to increase their lead, when Lewis Hill converted with a well taken free kick.
Okehampton began to get into the game, as it seemed Cullompton had taken their foot of the gas, so allowing the visitors several chances to score.
The rest of the half was played at a fierce pace, with both sides having great chances to score. Aiden may have done better when through on goal, with his shot trickling wide. Okehampton had a similar chance moments before half time, with their forward also shooting wide.
With no further alarms the referee brought the half to an end.
Cullompton began the second half creating a number of chances whilst looking to put the game beyond the reach of their opponents,
It was Okehampton though who opened their account, when a speculative shot from the edge of Cullompton’s penalty area was turned away by keeper Finn Croft, only to see an Okehampton forward follow up to score.
The visitors were back in the game!
Cullompton quickly made a substitute bringing on Cameron Webb. He made an instant impact, receiving the ball on the edge of the Okehampton penalty area, he turned, before firing an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner, to restore Cullompton’s two goal advantage. A terrific goal!
This knocked the stuffing out of Okehampton. With Braden Morris running the midfield, as well as seasoned defenders Jamie Price and Craig Woodman protecting debutant
keeper Finn Croft, Cullompton ran out deserved winners.
Final score Cullompton 3 Okehampton 1.
Saturday will see Cullompton returning to league action, with an away trip to league leaders Sidmouth.
