Rangers made the trip to Plymouth on Easter Monday to take on Elburton Villa .
We made the trip with only 12 fit players due to injury and work commitments etc which saw Ryan Perrot and Aiden Horne replace Adam Langabeer and Sam Jones in the starting line up with Danny Jee being the sole sub on the bench .
After only 4 minutes we found ourselves a goal down . A soft free kick was given away 25 yards out a decent strike beat Luke in goal to put our hosts 1-0 ahead . The lads then grew into the game and were the better side going close on a few occasions before on 38 minutes Aiden Horne was brought down in the box for a penalty which he duly dispatched to draw level at 1-1. Unfortunately this didn’t last long as a long ball straight from the kick off was misjudged by the Rangers back line and following Sam Bryant’s clumsy challenge a penalty was awarded to Elburton . This was scored which left the teams going in at the break 2-1 to Elburton . We started the 2nd half on the front foot and after only 3 minutes we were awarded another penalty when Dan Koita got in front of the last defender to be brought down in the box . This resulted with Dan having to leave the field with a nasty cut to the forehead and was replaced by Danny Jee . Unfortunately Aiden couldn’t repeat his earlier effort as the opposing keeper made a good stop low to his left to keep the hosts 2-1 ahead . Rangers continued to be the dominant team and despite being down to 10 men after Jack Lewis was sin binned drew level on the hour . A cross from Jack Bryant found Ben Scott on the penalty spot who produced a fine turn and finish to make it 2-2.
Rangers to continued to be in control of the game and on 82 minutes got themselves in front . The ball being worked out to the left hand side of the box where Ben Scott’s deflected shot beat the home keeper to put us 3-2 ahead. An Elburton player was sent off shortly afterwards for a second harsh booking , Rangers comfortably saw out the remainder of the game and in injury time a fine move involving Lucas White , Aiden and Ryan Perrot saw Ryan put Lloyd White through on goal and he calmly beat the keeper to give Rangers a deserved 4-2 victory .
Good luck to Elburton for the rest of the season and we would like to thank the Elburton Physio and staff with their help in treating Dan Koita’s injury . Good news is Dan is fine and will hopefully be available for Saturdays trip to Dartmouth .
