Saturday saw Dartmouth coming to town, having made the long journey from South Devon.
There was an early pitch inspection to see if the game could go ahead. The match referee was happy with the conditions and the game began in heavy rain.
Dartmouth made the early running but were unable to trouble the home keeper.
The soft conditions weren’t conducive to flowing football; Cully realising this began to bring both their speedy wide men into the game with immediate success, when Jack Bryants low cross was turned in by Luke Jones. Cullompton were well on top, and should have finished the half at least two or three goals up.
The second half began with Cullompton continuing to dominate and it wasn’t long before another break down the right saw Jack Bryant latching on to a Lloyd White cross to slot home.
It was all Cullompton now and it wasn’t long before great interplay between Lloyd and Lucas saw Lucas scoring Cully’s third.
The goals continued, when from a short corner saw Sam Jones adding goal number four.
To be fair Dartmouth didn’t drop their heads and tried hard to get back into the game. Cully though had other ideas, and with the introduction of Aiden were able to add a fifth goal, when he played in Lucas White for his second.
The referee seemed to be enjoying the afternoon, as he played nine minutes of added time before blowing the final whistle.
A very good afternoon for Cully and a big thanks you to ground staff for getting the pitch playable.
