A Friday evening kick off for Cullompton, as they welcomed fellow Mid Devon side Crediton.
Cullompton will be hoping to return to winning ways, after defeats in their last two games.
The manager was to introduce three new signings, Josh Waddam, Jamie Price and former Cully player, Ethan Phillips.
From the kick off Crediton were on the attack and with barely 30 seconds gone, they scored when from a cross into the Cullompton penalty area, an unmarked player headed home.
After withstanding Crediton’s early dominance, this new look Cullompton side began to grow into the game, and with the experienced Jamie Price marshalling the home defence, they were to create chances of their own.
As the half wore on the game became more even, with both sides having chances, but it was Cullompton who were to score. After good work from the impressive Zac Williams, who set up Aiden, rounding the keeper to equalise.
Now it was the home side who were looking most dominant, and it wasn’t long before they took the lead with Josh Waddam taking advantage of a mix up by the Crediton defender’s to score.
Well on top now, and with half time approaching they added a third, with Lloyd White scoring .
Just as Cullompton thought that they were to go to the break with a two goal lead, a poor clearance out of defence led to Crediton scoring their second.
Maybe a little fortunate, when their first shot was well saved by Will Howard, only to see the rebound turned in.
The second half saw two teams determined to end up on top.
It was Cullompton though who looked the team most likely to score, winning numerous corners and forcing the goalkeeper into a number of good saves.
Crediton were always dangerous on counter attack, although the Cullompton defence handled them well and Will, in the Cullompton goal, was rarely troubled.
As the referee brought the game to an end, Cullompton would be delighted with the result against tough opposition like Crediton.
Final score:
Cullompton 3 Crediton 2
