Rangers made the trip to South Devon on Saturday to take on Brixham in the SWP League.
Rangers went into the game unchanged from the previous Saturday s victory against Torrington whilst Brixham were looking to continue their impressive start to the season.
We started the game brightly causing the Brixham defence a few problems in the first 15-20 mins but without really creating any clear cut chances .
The hosts then got a foothold in the game and went ahead on 35 mins when we failed to clear a long throw and allowed a Brixham player to poke the ball home from close range to go 1-0 ahead . Just before half time Rangers were dealt another blow when we went 2-0 down when a Brixham striker headed against the post and was 1st to react to tap in the rebound .
The second half then continued as the first half had ended with Brixham the dominant team , Rangers rarely threatening but working hard to stay in the game .We pushed forward for the last 10 mins to try and get one back but the scoreline remained at 2-0 with Brixham deservedly picking up the 3 points.
Manger Paul Pocock commented after the game “ I was really proud of the effort and work rate of the boys today but to be honest Brixham thoroughly deserved the win . They are a very impressive outfit and I’m sure they will be right up there challenging for honours at the end of the season.”
Next up we welcome Holsworthy to Adopstar Park on Wednesday night for a league fixture with a 7.30pm kick off .
