The first team were back in action on Wednesday night, looking to put Saturdays performance behind them. The visitors were Bridport, who were having a revival with a new management team and a return of many former players.
There was an early setback with centre forward Joe Wilkinson absent. However Connor Bryant was fit to start and play at this position.
The first half was a game full of endeavour, each side pushing forward, but some tough tackling and neither side creating chances. It ended with no shots on goal.
The second half began with both sides trading attacks, looking for an opener. It was the visitors who opened the scoring. Despite a clear foul on a Cully defender, the Bridport forward was able to slide the ball home. Cullompton huffed and puffed after that without making any serious attempts at goal, and it was Bridport who wrapped up a deserved victory with a second goal.
All in all a disappointing display from Cullompton, who must now pick themselves up for the trip to Teignmouth on Saturday.
