Yet another mid week fixture for Cullompton, with a visit from Somerset side, Bishops Lydeard.
It was clear from the kick off that Cullompton were determined to put last Saturday’s defeat at Torridgeside behind them.
With both Lewis Hill and Harry Varnalls suspended, it was a chance for Cameron Webb to start. It wasn’t long before he opened the scoring, converting a cross from Aiden.
Only a minute later, Cullompton increased their lead when a Bishops defender turned the ball into his own net.
The game was to change though, when Aiden was brought down in the box. The referee quickly awarded a penalty and sent off the Bishops defender for the offence: Aiden converted the penalty.
Cullompton continued to attack, creating and missing 3 or 4 good chances. It wasn’t until minutes before the break that they increased their lead, when from a break down the left, Danny Bailey crossed for Cameron Webb to head home his second.
Cullompton weren’t finished with the scoring, when deep into injury time, Braden drove in the forth goal from the edge of the box.
There was no time for the restart, as the referee brought the half to a close.
If Cullompton thought they were in for an easy ride in the second half, they would have to think again. Bishop’s Lydeard were up for the challenge. Bishop’s manager had made four substitutions at the start of the second half, bringing on players from their youth section.
Almost immediately they were up for it, chasing down tackles, winning the ball and creating chances, especially on the breakaway.
Cullompton though were also still creating chances, but somehow not increasing the score line.
Cullompton at last added a sixth goal, when a good move into the box saw Aiden play a one two with Drew Sloan to score.
Moments later Cameron Webb intercepted a loose ball on the edge of the box passing to Aiden to score Cullompton’s seventh.
Final Score. Cullompton 7 Bishops Lydeard 0
