Under the Edenvale Park lights last night our Under 18’s progressed to the 2nd Round of the FA Youth Cup with a convincing 4-2 victory over Welton Rovers. The sparse crowd were treated to a fine display from our lads although they will be disappointed to have conceded two late goals.
WElton Rovers had already struggled to deal with Cully corners and the first two goals came as a result of excellent deliveries from Sam Rawlings. After 20 minutes the outstanding Audi Campbell was on hand at the back post to scramble the ball home and then ten minutes later Toby Maddern headed the second. Both of these efforts were eclipsed by a superb volley from Mason Clifford on the stroke of half time. The second half was evenly contested but the game was put beyond doubt on the hour when Audi got his second, again from a corner, but from the left this time. Two goals in injury time by the visitors slightly took the gloss of the performance but it should not detract from what was a good all round display.
